Hold Me Closer

Hold Me Closer

Darkness deepens,
fast rolls in the bitter tide of death.
Grief and sorrow,
a mocking silence now is all that's left.
You are so tender, you number all my tears.
You give me shelter and You cast away my fears.

Jesus, lover of my soul,
Hold me closer through the night.
Take this bleeding heart of mine,
and redeem it by You might.

Man of sorrows,
You're acquainted well with pain and loss.
In the garden,
You laid down Your life and paid the cost.
Where is deaths sting now? Where grave your victory?
I share Your triumph still, if Thou abide with me!

Jesus, lover of my soul,
Hold me closer through the night.
Take this bleeding heart of mine,
and redeem it by Your might.

Jesus, lover of my soul,
Hold me closer through the night.

(It sounds better when you sing it... but I will have to try work out how to record it.)
